5 Reasons Why We Don't Want to Change

Oct 23, 2024 / Inspirational

In November 2010, the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology revealed a study about peoples’ fear of change. Students were given a choice between a typical curriculum and a new curriculum. Though the new curriculum required much less work, the students chose the typical curriculum. The study revealed an important truth: we crave the known and fear the unknown. Why do we fear the unknown and resist change? First, our craving for change is not stronger than our fear of initiating the change. Second, it requires risk. Staying in a bad, yet familiar situation often seems preferable to a new, unknown situation. Listen to this week’s podcast episode on the fear of change and how to overcome it
